Clinically clears the cervical spine in trauma patients without the need for imaging.

Parameters

NEXUS Criteria (ALL must be absent to clear)any

Midline cervical tendernessTenderness on palpation of the posterior midline cervical spine.Evidence of intoxicationAltered mental status or history of recent ingestion.Altered level of consciousnessGCS <15, disorientation, or delayed response.Focal neurologic deficitAny new motor or sensory deficit.Painful distracting injuryInjury that may distract the patient from neck pain.
