Adequate hydration to reduce kidney stone risk from supplementation
Warning signs — return to emergency immediately for
Muscle spasms, cramps, or stiffness that are severe or worsening
Numbness or tingling around the mouth or fingertips that is severe
Difficulty breathing, throat tightness, or stridor
Seizures or loss of consciousness
Palpitations, chest pain, or fainting
Confusion or unusual mental changes
Follow-up
Blood calcium recheck within 24-48 hours after discharge
Earlier if symptoms worsen
Follow-up appointment with endocrinologist or family doctor within 1-2 weeks
If post-thyroid surgery, surgeon follow-up as instructed
Medication dose adjustments expected — do not change doses without medical guidance
