›Take acetaminophen 1000 mg every 6 hours as needed — safe to use together with ibuprofen

›Elevate your arm above heart level as much as possible to reduce swelling

›Apply ice wrapped in a cloth over the posterior elbow for 20 minutes several times per day

›Activity restrictions

›Do not bear weight through the affected arm

›Keep your arm in the sling when not elevating

›You may gently move your fingers, wrist, and shoulder to prevent stiffness

›Follow-up instructions

›Follow up with the orthopedic (bone and joint) clinic within 5-7 days of this visit

›You will need repeat X-rays at your follow-up appointment

›Fracture healing typically takes 6-12 weeks

›Return to the emergency department immediately if you develop

›Increasing numbness, tingling, or weakness in your fingers or hand

›Worsening pain despite taking your medications, especially with forearm tightness or firmness

›Fingers that are cold, pale, blue, or with poor capillary return

›Fever, wound drainage, redness spreading from any wound, or signs of infection

›Inability to move your fingers

›Your splint feels too tight or causes increased pain
